Volunteer
There are minimally two types of volunteer opportunities available at the Centre:
On-site—volunteering for a shift on a Mon., Tues,, Wed., Thurs., or Fri. in your community. Our volunteers are trained to work with our clients and families. The volunteers provide support for our families and clients, distribute supplies free of charge to our clients, organize the donations as they come in, assemble the gift layettes for the newborns of our clients.
Mentoring program—a one-year commitment of your time and prayers which is a more flexible alternative. Our mentoring program is available to those (men and women) who are looking for support and guidance as they move into their new roles as parents. It is a committed relationship that lasts for about a year.
Both types of volunteering require application (click here), police check and completion of training prior to involvement. For your police check, you may require a volunteer duties letter (click here).
There is staff supervision available on-site.
The next volunteer training is a Phase 1 training for all PHC volunteers and Board. This training is scheduled for: Saturday September 17, 2011 from 9:00 to 4:00p at our Oshawa site.
If you would like to continue your training, call Sue at 905-720-3252 for more information or contact us by email.
